Print and framing information

InksHigh Resolution Printer

All prints are produced on Canon large-format, high-resolution printers using Canon LUCIA 12-colour pigment inks. Lucia pigment ink has a special polymer coating around each ink particle to improve ink adhesion to media. Increasing durability, light fastness and scratch resistance. Resulting in colour-stable, durable prints with bright, vivid colours and outstanding black & white. These inks provide a high resistance to moisture and atmospheric gases ensuring the print will not degrade over time.

Paper

All prints, excluding Canvas and Acrylic prints, are produced onto 170gsm, matte coated high-resolution paper The very fine matte coated surface allows a "bright, crisp" finish, which is ideal for prints where a smooth matte finish is required.

Canvas frame

All canvases are printed onto 450gsm museum-grade, water-resistant, white cotton blend canvas and then sealed with three coats of giclée veneer. This invisible coating seals the canvas surface, making it easier to keep your canvas clean and dust free. It also enhances the colours and increases protection from fading, handling and atmospheric gases. Canvas Frame

The timber frame is constructed from 38mm Kiln dried Fir. Fir stretcher bars are used as they are heavier and stronger than other types and are far less prone to warping. The canvas is then stretched over the frames, and stapled on the rear.

Tension wedges are inserted into each of the frame corners to ensure that the canvas can be kept in excellent condition for many years to come. Some cheap framed canvases on the market use MDF or cheap low quality wooden strips, these offer no possibility of inserting tension wedges into the corners of the frames.

Why use tensioning wedges ? All canvases, as with any fabric, will relax over time - so in order to keep the fabric tight the corner tensioning wedges can be used to retension the canvas. A gentle tap on each wedge will re-tighten the canvas back to its original condition. Without the tensioning wedges, the canvas would have to be removed from the frame and re-stretched, this comes with added expense and a risk of damaging the canvas.

The back of the frame is finshed with white cloth tape. Picture hooks, cord and brackets are all pre-fixed so that it is ready for you to hang on your wall.
